- Cell Biology Undergraduate Researcher (Aug 2021-Apr 2022)
In this role, I worked under the supervision of Dr. Linda Silveira, as a capstone researcher to research the yeast Kluyveromyces lactis and its regulation of the production of pulcherrimin, a red pigment that previous research suggested that it has anti-microbial properties. My specific research involved a gene, which is regulated along with PUL genes that control pulcherrimin production. This responsbility required the use of aseptic techniques, microbiology, biochemistry, and genetics knowledge. In addition, I worked with and created various yeast variants, mutants, strains, requiring exceptional sample management and organization skills. - Summer Researcher (Jun 2021-Aug 2021)
In this role, as a Physics Summer Researcher at the University of Redlands, I helped with the installation of the previously discontinued scanning electron microscope (SEM) and bringing it back to use. In addition, I also assisted my advisor, Dr. S. Eric Hill, with preparing equipment and instruction materials for the upcoming condensed matter advanced laboratory class. - ASUR Student Body Vice President of Student Organizations (Apr 2021-Apr 2022)
